Four years ago Oracle announced Solaris CBE as a “Common Build Environment” version of Solaris 11.4. Oracle Solaris CBE is provided free of charge to open source developers and other non-production users. Oracle released a new version of Solaris CBE this week for those who want this free* version of Solaris.
To better support developers and the FOSS community, Oracle has released a new version of the Solaris Common Build Environment that is more aligned with the current Solaris 11.4 upstream available to its paying Oracle customers.
This updated Solaris CBE makes it easier for developers to try out current Solaris enhancements and other “technology advances” included in Solaris 11.4 updates. Oracle is continuing its plans to support Oracle Solaris at least through 2037.
