Oracle shares fell slightly on Friday, slipping 0.2% to $194.48 in morning trading, after opening near $198 and briefly hitting $198.60. The stock traded as high as $194.32.
The decline came even as Wall Street opened the first trading day of 2026 with gains. At the opening bell, the S&P 500 was up 0.48% and the Nasdaq Composite was up 1.03%. Reuters
Investors are watching to see whether the busy January calendar changes the outlook for U.S. interest rates, a key driver of tech valuations. The Jan. 9 U.S. jobs report and Jan. 13 consumer price index are in focus, and Fed funds futures – contracts that reflect bets on policy direction – show little chance of a cut at the late January meeting and about a 50 percent chance of a quarter-point move in March. “The market is looking for direction,” said Matthew Maley, chief market strategist at Miller Tabak.
