Oracle Hospitality is slowly incorporating AI advancements into its hotel technology products, with Vice President Laura Calin sharing the company’s roadmap for artificial intelligence updates at the recent Hitec hospitality technology convention. The updates will be delivered through Opera Cloud Central, a multi-system platform that Oracle began selling last year as an expansion of its Opera Cloud property management system.
With 40,000 properties being migrated to the cloud-based system, Oracle Hospitality has made headway in integrating the latest AI technology into its offerings. The company has secured several customers for Opera Cloud Central, including Scandic Hotels Group, Thon Hotels in Norway, and Red Sea Global in Saudi Arabia.
While Oracle is working on incorporating next-generation AI into its products, the process is complex and requires ensuring data availability, scalability, affordability, and security. Calin emphasized the importance of mature technology before widespread deployment, as customers await the full potential of AI advancements.
To develop new features, Oracle Hospitality leverages its internal team of developers, interacts with Oracle’s masterminds at Oracle Laboratories, collaborates with universities for research, and hosts Innovation Fest annually where teams tackle customer feedback challenges. The result is a continuous stream of new technological functions that are tested before being implemented.
In addition to its in-house innovations, Oracle Hospitality also has partnerships with over 500 third-party technology providers, with 1,000 more in development. This marketplace of startups offers digital tipping, housekeeping services, and other solutions that hotels can integrate with their systems. Oracle aims to empower startups and facilitate innovation by providing access to tools, APIs, and a customer base without initial costs.
As the market for hotel technology providers continues to grow, Oracle Hospitality remains at the forefront with its commitment to integrating AI advancements and expanding its network of partners. Customers can expect a steady stream of new features and updates as the company remains focused on delivering cutting-edge solutions.
