Oracle has laid off about 700 workers across California and those workers are expected to lose their jobs by June 1, according to California state records. These job cuts are part of larger layoffs announced by the billionaire Larry Ellison-led software giant earlier this month, as the company moves ahead with what could be one of the largest layoffs in corporate history.A New York Post report also reported the breakdown by location: 310 workers in Redwood City, 184 in Santa Clara, 158 in Pleasanton and 50 in Santa Monica. Add to that 491 additional layoffs in Seattle, and the publicly confirmed number already stands at nearly 1,200 jobs.

Oracle’s mass layoffs were communicated to employees via email: “After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have decided to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. Therefore, today is your last day of work.”Affected employees have been informed…
