The Oracle Database@Azure service is expanding to include Oracle Andalusian Database, with initial availability in the US Azure East region and plans for 14 other regions, including Europe. This Autonomous Database service integrates with Azure portal and APIs, running on Oracle Exadata Cloud Infrastructure housed in Azure data centers for optimal performance, availability, security, and scalability.
The expansion to Europe through the Microsoft Azure Germany Central West Region in Frankfurt was announced at Oracle CloudWorld Tour in London, marking the first partnership between Microsoft and Oracle to bring Oracle database services to European infrastructure. The collaboration aims to facilitate the migration of workloads to the cloud, leveraging Azure AI and Oracle databases for business innovation.
The partnership’s goal is to ease migration and management of data platforms, adapting to various data and development models across different use cases while reducing the complexity of integrations. With data stored in European territory, businesses can expect high performance and compliance with privacy regulations.
Microsoft CVP Erin Chapple highlighted the commitment to helping customers accelerate cloud migration and combine Oracle and Microsoft cloud services for enhanced business capabilities. The current availability in 15 regions, with plans for further expansion in European regions such as Central France, Northern Italy, Central Sweden, and Southern United Kingdom, reflects the companies’ efforts to provide comprehensive cloud solutions for global enterprises.
