Chinese-made social network TikTok has announced the creation of a joint venture that will operate its US operations. This is the requirement that lawmakers have required for the continued operation of its flagship app in America.

The JV is called TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC and has published a notice This shows that there are three “executive investors,” namely software giant Oracle, private equity firm Silver Lake and Abu Dhabi-based technology investment firm MGX. Each of these three holds 15 percent of the JV.

ByteDance, the Chinese company that operates TikTok elsewhere, owns 19.9 percent of the company. Dell Family Office, Michael Dell’s investment firm, also invested in the joint venture.

Oracle will play a large role in TikTok’s U.S. operations by hosting American users’ data in its cloud and acting as the consortium’s “trusted security partner.” In the latter role, he will assist with ongoing source code review and validation.
