Optus partners with Cisco to enhance network security and protection

Optus and Cisco have joined forces in a multi-year partnership focused on enhancing network security and data protection for Optus’ business and commercial clients, particularly those using hybrid work models. With a growing number of Australians working remotely, there is a heightened need for secure networks and services to protect against vulnerabilities.

To meet this demand, Optus and Cisco will invest in expanding Optus’ Integrated Network Operations Centre and Security Operations Centre to create secure networks and streamline managed services. This will provide improved visibility into security incidents, allowing for quicker identification and resolution of issues.

The new network security platform offers services such as Cisco-Powered Secure Firewall and Managed Secure Service Edge, with additional features like Vulnerability Management and Threat Hunting to be introduced later. Native integration with Cisco Meraki and ThousandEyes will further enhance network security for customers.

Optus’s enterprise and commercial clients will benefit from always-on security monitoring and Cyber Incident Response from Cisco’s Talos Intelligence Group. The partnership aims to continuously enhance security offerings and deliver innovative solutions to address evolving cybersecurity challenges in hybrid work environments.

Optus’s Vice President, Danny Price, emphasized the importance of delivering secure and reliable networks for customers, particularly in today’s increasingly challenging environments. Cisco’s Managing Partner, Rodney Hamill, praised the collaboration for simplifying complex security tasks in hybrid work settings.

Overall, the partnership between Optus and Cisco aims to provide scalable and reliable secure network services to meet the evolving needs of Australian businesses. By leveraging the power of the network to deliver security outcomes, the alliance seeks to address cybersecurity challenges as a top priority for organizations in the region.
