We live in a time of “Friendship recession“Where Americans today have fewer personal friendships and social support.
Current data of the American Survey Center shows that Americans now have fewer close friendships than they once did, a number that began declining decades before the COVID-19 pandemic began. The survey found that 49% of Americans reported having three or fewer close friends.
We also live in a country without socialized mental health care, where depression rates remain at a historical high.
Contrary to all popular opinions and supposedly correct answers, this outburst of emotions in the absence of a close friendship should not be directed at chatbots with artificial intelligence.
