The AWS sponsored OpenSearch project has released version 1.0 of its Elasticsearch fork, an evolution of its previous Open Distro for Elasticsearch project.
“OpenSearch is a community-driven open source search and analysis suite, which is derived from Apache 2.0 licensed Elasticsearch 7.10.2 & Kibana 7.10.2. It consists of a search engine daemon (OpenSearch), a visualization and user interface (OpenSearch Dashboards), and advanced features from Open Distro for Elasticsearch such as security, alerts, anomaly detection, and more, “said AWS in a post.
The optimizations since the beta version include the introduction of ARM64 architecture support under Linux and several new functions.
“Now that OpenSearch has added test automation, built infrastructure, made updates to ensure the code is fit for production use, and thoroughly tested, the project will be able to deliver a more regular release cadence,” added AWS added.
