In recent years, you’ve probably heard this term: superintelligence. But it sounds sci-fi and otherworldly, so you dismiss it as something irrelevant to you and don’t care what it really means.
However, OpenAI has just released a warning that is a stark reminder of what could happen if the development of artificial intelligence continues to lead to superintelligence, and what that means for society and today’s workforce. Their statement, made exactly the month before ChatGPT launched three years ago, also laid out guardrails to protect against potentially catastrophic damage and risks from superintelligence.
As I read through her statement, I couldn’t help but think about the enormous impact superintelligence and even AGI could have on jobs, and how many people who might now oppose them…
