Online music giant bans AI songs

Online music store Bandcamp has announced that it has banned music created with it generative AI from his catalog.

In a blog update, the store said: “Music is much more than a product that you consume.”

“It is the result of a human cultural dialogue that predates the written word,” the statement said.

“Bandcamp was created to directly connect artists and their fans and make it easy for fans to support artists equally so they can keep making music.”

The statement says buyers must be able to trust that all music available on Bandcamp is created by people.

“Music and audio that is wholly or substantially generated by AI is not permitted on Bandcamp,” the statement said.
