The Intel-TSMC fiasco has been making headlines over the past few days, notably when the Taiwan chip giant officially filed a lawsuit, claiming that former executive Dr. Wei-Jen Lo has access to ‘sensitive information’ that could help competitors like Intel. During his surprise visit to Taiwan around Thanksgiving, NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, was asked to comment on the recent dispute between Intel and TSMC. Jensen said that while he isn’t aware of the specifics of the situation, he emphasized that TSMC is an ‘entire system’ and doesn’t depend on just a single person, which implies that the departure of a former executive won’t have a significant impact.
NVIDIA’s CEO was also asked about his concerns regarding TSMC’s ‘lack of ability’ to protect sensitive technology. He stated that TSMC has done an “excellent job” in protecting information, and Team Green has no concerns about technology leakage. Interestingly, Jensen claims that even if such an incident were to happen, replicating NVIDIA’s tech stack wouldn’t be easy, as it is an effort that took the company more than three decades.
