Nvidia surpasses Microsoft to become the most valuable company in the world

Nvidia, a leading GPU maker, has recently surpassed Microsoft to become the most valuable company in the world due to its chips driving the generative AI technology boom. With a market capitalization of $3.335 trillion and a share price of $135.58, Nvidia has outpaced rivals like Microsoft, Apple, and Google. Despite a share split in June that lowered overall share price, the company’s value has surged, with a 160 percent increase in share price in 2024. Nvidia’s latest earnings report revealed over $26 billion in revenue prior to the introduction of the new Blackwell GPU architecture, including the powerful B200 chip scheduled for release later this year. CEO Jensen Huang has stated that the Blackwell units will be priced between $30,000 and $40,000 each, with plans to release new AI chips annually.
