Reports suggest Nvidia is cutting back supply of its 16GB RAM graphics cards to focus on two cheaper models – the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. There’s also a 16GB variant of the 5060 Ti (we’ve reviewed one), but production has been affected ongoing memory shortages, which you have likely heard about by now. RAM price hikes have been affecting the market for several months, and that may turn to “several years” of disruption to gaming, according to Epic CEO Tim Sweeney.
8GB of VRAM may not be desirable for most gamers this days – in fact, a poll we ran a few months back suggested it “isn’t enough anymore,” but entry-level to mid-range cards remain massively popular. Generally speaking, the reason for that is simple: the price. Plus, Valve’s monthly Steam survey shows the majority people are still playing at 1080p.
