Nvidia has released driver version 556.12 WHQL for GeForce graphics card users, offering support and optimizations for The First Descendant game and DLSS 3 support for the latest PAYDAY 3 update. The First Descendant is a third-person shooter game set in Unreal Engine 5, where players fight invaders to protect the Ingris continent. The game will be available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation from July 2, 2024.
The official changelog for the driver includes game-ready support for The First Descendant and other games using DLSS 3.5 technology. Fixes in this release address issues like out of memory errors in The Last of Us Part 1, crashes in Halo Infinite, and incorrect game stats in Valorant. The only known bug is related to NVENC settings being ignored in 10-bit encoding.
Users with Windows 10 and 11 64-bit systems can download the Nvidia 556.12 WHQL driver for RTX, GTX, and TITAN series graphics cards. The driver is compatible with architectures like Ada Lovelace, Amp, Turing, Pascal, and Maxwell, across various GeForce series models. Further details can be found in the full release notes available in a PDF format.
