Its latest growth figures point to a dramatic acceleration, while a powerful new backer could reshape the startup’s path toward a planned public listing.
Nvidia is in talks to invest in startup Perplexity as part of a new funding round. If the deal goes through, the valuation of the company developing AI-powered search and agent tools could exceed $30 billion.
The new financing would represent an increase of more than 50% in Perplexity’s valuation compared with its previous funding round, held about a year ago.
Perplexity’s revenue grows thanks to AI agents
Perplexity’s annualized revenue has exceeded $750 million. At the beginning of 2026, this figure was less than $250 million.
One factor behind this growth has been Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based AI agent that professionals use to automate tasks on their computers.
Perplexity declined to comment on the reported potential investment by Nvidia. Nvidia had also not responded at the time of the inquiry.
Previous valuation and plans to go public
In September 2025, Perplexity completed a funding round that valued the company at $20 billion.
At the beginning of 2026, the company entered into a $750 million agreement with Microsoft to use Azure cloud infrastructure.
In June, Aravind Srinivas said that Perplexity plans to go public in 2028, regardless of how the market responds to the upcoming listings of Anthropic and OpenAI.
