The money keeps pouring into AI infrastructure, and Firmus is the latest to catch a torrent of it. The Australian data-centre builder has raised a fresh $2bn in strategic equity, fully subscribed, in a round that values the company at more than $10.5bn.
That is roughly double where it stood just four months ago, a pace that captures how fast capital is now chasing AI capacity.
The backer list reads like a who’s who of the moment. Coatue and Nvidia returned as follow-on investors, joined this time by new money from Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities arm and the trading firm Jane Street.
Nvidia’s presence is the most telling of the four, since the chipmaker rarely invests without strategic intent, and its continued backing ties Firmus tightly to the hardware and reference designs sitting at the centre of the AI build-out.
What Firmus is building, in its own words, are AI factories. The new capital will accelerate its Project Southgate rollout across Australia and fund expansion into the wider Asia-Pacific region, including a new development in Indonesia.
Its pitch leans heavily on efficiency, because the company builds around Nvidia’s reference architecture using its own HyperCube platform and grid-aware software, emphasising energy efficiency and renewable power in a business notorious for its appetite for both.
