The company has released a software update for NVIDIA Apps, version 11.0.9.585, which expands the GPU hardware resource management capabilities. A new graphics card application prioritization tool has been added to the Advanced tab of the System Settings. This feature allows direct control over the distribution of the accelerator’s computing time in situations where the GPU’s resources are simultaneously used by an active program in the foreground and tasks running in the background. Previously, such operations were managed exclusively by automatic algorithms of the operating system and video driver, without the possibility of direct user intervention.
The new option’s interface offers four predefined performance profiles, including foreground application priority, standard mode, background task priority, and custom configuration. By default, the system allocates 80% of resources to the main active window and 20% to background processes. When activating manual mode, graphics card owners gain access to a step-by-step slider, allowing them to precisely adjust the power allocation percentage for specific usage scenarios.
