Nutanix, a company specializing in hyperconverged infrastructure and hybrid multicloud technology, announced partnerships with Dell Technologies and Nvidia to expand its presence in the enterprise market. The company also expanded relationships with other partners at its .NEXT 2024 conference, including Hugging Face, to enhance its hybrid cloud capabilities.

The collaboration with Dell Technologies will see Nutanix software integrated into Dell servers and sold through Dell’s own channels. This marks a departure from the previous model where partners combined Nutanix software with Dell hardware. This move brings Nutanix into a similar model previously exclusive to VMware’s VxRail.

In the hyperconverged infrastructure space, VMware VxRail had been a major competitor for Nutanix. With Broadcom’s acquisition of Dell at the end of last year, changes in VMware partner strategies have opened up opportunities for companies like Nutanix to broaden their partnerships with Dell. Dell becomes the second OEM supplier, after Cisco Systems, to develop complete hardware systems embedding Nutanix technology.

The partnership with Dell introduces a disaggregated storage model for the first time, where storage resources are separated from computing resources. This opens up new possibilities for customers seeking external storage support. Nutanix’s expanded hypervisor now includes micro-segmentation capabilities, data services, and management capabilities for an IP storage array, such as Dell’s PowerFlex.

Nutanix also announced a strategic partnership with Nvidia, supporting Nvidia’s new inference microservices and introducing the Nutanix Kubernetes platform as a result of its acquisition of D2iQ. This allows customers to combine the value of containers with new AI applications using Nvidia libraries.

The aim is to help customers deploy AI applications quickly and securely using an integrated middleware stack. The joint offerings from Dell and Nutanix are expected to be available to customers in early access later this year. Other additions to Nutanix’s multicloud infrastructure portfolio were introduced at the .NEXT 2024 conference, including a partnership with EnterpriseDB to accelerate the adoption of PostgreSQL and new capabilities in the Nutanix Cloud Platform to improve sustainability through energy consumption visibility.

Overall, Nutanix’s new partnerships and expanded capabilities signal a strategic shift towards innovation and collaboration to meet the evolving needs of customers looking to modernize their IT infrastructure and deploy AI applications efficiently and securely.
