Nutanix announced the Nutanix Kubernetes® Platform (NKP) at the .NEXT Conference in Barcelona, offering a complete cloud native stack for managing container-based modern applications using Kubernetes. This platform aims to simplify the management of Kubernetes clusters across hybrid and multicloud environments, providing a consistent operating model for Platform Engineering teams.

According to Principal Analyst Simon Robinson from Enterprise Strategy Group, NKP offers a path to consistency across Kubernetes clusters within an organization, reducing operational complexity and speeding up time to market for applications. Customers can manage clusters on Nutanix on-premises and in the public cloud through a single pane of glass, cutting down on complexity and costs.

NKP targets enterprise Kubernetes Platform Engineering teams to bring resilience, day-2 operations, and compliance to modern applications at scale. It integrates with Nutanix’s data services portfolio, providing reliable block, file, and object storage, as well as databases-as-a-service. The platform also offers automation, security, monitoring, and upgrades through AI-driven insights to reduce complexity and human error.

Built on pure upstream CNCF-conformant Kubernetes, NKP avoids vendor lock-in and enables customers to leverage open-source innovation while maintaining compatibility and security. It simplifies the management of Kubernetes clusters through a centralized management plane, providing a user-friendly dashboard for observability and control across different environments.

NKP comes in three tiers: NKP Starter, NKP Pro, and NKP Ultimate, offering customers options based on their cloud native adoption maturity. NKP builds upon technologies from D2iQ’s Kubernetes Platform, acquired by Nutanix in 2023, and is expected to be available in the summer of 2024.

This platform supports Nutanix’s vision to enable customers to run modern applications and their data anywhere, helping organizations deploy cloud-native and containerized applications with ease. More information about NKP can be found on Nutanix’s website.
