Nutanix, a key player in hybrid multicloud computing, has introduced new deployment options and programs to help streamline infrastructure modernization for large-scale enterprises. By utilizing existing server hardware investments, customers can migrate to Nutanix faster and with added flexibility to meet varying workload requirements. Additionally, Nutanix has enhanced its AHV hypervisor to boost resilience and better support enterprise-scale deployments, catering to those seeking a new virtualization and containerization platform.

A statement from Treasure Island and Circus Circus Hotel Casino’s CIO, Andrew Phan, highlighted the smooth transition to Nutanix due to significant cost savings compared to their previous hypervisor vendor. Nutanix’s new AHV deployment options include upcoming server capabilities for repurposing existing blade servers in collaboration with Cisco. This initiative aims to expand the flexibility of Nutanix architecture by allowing compute-only nodes to connect to hyperconverged infrastructure or storage-only nodes. The company is also working with OEM partners under the Nutanix Elevate Program to run AHV on a broader range of server configurations.

Cisco’s Senior VP and GM, Jeremy Foster, emphasized the partnership’s goal of enabling customers to modernize their infrastructure with greater choice, leveraging servers like Cisco UCS X-Series. Moreover, Nutanix supports migrating popular vSAN ReadyNode configurations to its Cloud Infrastructure solution, empowering customers to reuse current hardware and lower total cost of ownership.

Nutanix’s focus on enhancing digital resilience and supporting enterprise-scale deployments is evident through new features like Secure Snapshot and multi-site disaster recovery (DR). These additions aim to protect AHV workloads from cyber threats and ensure uptime for critical applications across multiple sites. The platform’s Automatic Cluster Selection feature facilitates a self-service experience for users in large Nutanix environments through intelligent VM distribution and live migration optimization.

The proposed AHV server capabilities and AHV Metro multi-site DR capabilities are still in development, while existing features like vSAN ReadyNode support, Secure Snapshot, and Automatic Cluster Selection are currently available. Nutanix’s initiatives align with the growing demand for enterprise virtualization solutions, offering organizations a viable alternative for IT modernization while managing risks effectively. Nutanix’s significant milestones in AHV development reflect its commitment to delivering innovative solutions that simplify operations and enhance cyber-resilience in cloud environments.
