Nutanix has acquired French compute orchestration company Ryax Technologies, bringing Ryax’s software into its artificial intelligence product strategy.
It plans to integrate Ryax’s GPU utilisation and workload scheduling technology into Nutanix Kubernetes Platform and Nutanix Enterprise AI, which are aimed at organisations running applications and AI systems across mixed infrastructure.
The acquisition reflects growing pressure on companies running AI workloads as demand for graphics processors outpaces supply and infrastructure estates become more fragmented. Many businesses now spread computing tasks across private data centres, large public cloud providers and newer specialist cloud operators to secure access to hardware.
That distribution can create operational complexity, particularly for companies moving AI work from testing into production. Ryax’s software is designed to automate infrastructure, data, hardware and code management so users can deploy workflows across different environments without building custom integrations for each one.
Nutanix also outlined two capabilities it wants to add to its software stack through the deal: resource optimisation across GPUs and CPUs, and workload scheduling that places AI tasks on hardware offering the best balance of cost and performance.
