PORT WASHINGTON, NY—In a new survey highlighting the ability for cable and broadband operators to sell both home security and video subscription services, NPD Connected Intelligence’s latest Home Automation Ownership & Usage Report reports that 41% of consumers who use security cameras, security systems, or smart doorbells in retail stores have also chosen to pay for a subscription service to access premium features.
With sales of these products expected to grow nearly 20% through 2023, according to NPD’s Future of Tech report, this presents an opportunity for companies selling security services, including smart home makers and cable operators that provide smart home features offer over their broadband networks.
