Virtual transportation cards are now available on Google Wallet for Android devices, according to an announcement from ORCA earlier this week. This will allow public transit users to pay for transit, manage funds, purchase passes, view transactions, and access trip history through the Google Wallet app.
To take advantage of the new features, existing ORCA card holders must transfer their physical cards to digital cards. Once the transfer is complete, the physical card will be deactivated. New adult cards can also be added to the virtual wallet at the same cost as purchasing a new physical card, which is $3.
Using the ORCA virtual card is simple – passengers only need to hold their Android phone or Wear OS device up to an ORCA card reader when boarding public transportation. The new feature is currently supported by several transit agencies, including Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and Washington State Ferries.
