Michael Dell, CEO of Dell Technologies, says nothing will change about the proposed VMware spin-off, even if Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware, joins Intel.
“Nothing will change with respect to Form 13D / A, which we filed with the SEC on July 15, announcing that Dell Technologies is considering a spin-off of our 81 percent stake in VMware,” Dell said in a statement towards CRN. “The negotiations on the VMware side are led by a special committee of the Board of Directors. Workstreams continue. As both companies have noted, we believe a tax-free spin could add value to shareholders, team members, and clients by simplifying capital structures and allowing flexibility. “
Dell said its “strong partnership with VMware will continue” to develop innovative solutions. “It’s business as usual,” he said.
