Oracle stunned employees on March 31, 2026, when the company announced via email that it would lay off approximately 20,000 employees. Oracle began laying off employees across its global offices. Employees in the US, India, and other regions reported termination emails arriving in their inboxes as early as 6 a.m. EST. The Oracle Leadership emails informed employees that their roles were being eliminated as part of a broader organizational change – and that the day they received the email was their last day at work. Now a report from TechCrunch describes in detail how the laid-off employees are fighting with the company for their rights. One of the former Oracle employees told TechCrunch: “I logged into the VPN and it said, ‘This user no longer exists’.” Then I called my friend and she said, ‘No, your account has been deactivated.'”
