It seemed like every other sign along the road was littered with claims from tech companies making outrageous claims about artificial intelligence. The ads were, of course, full of hype and ragebait. But the claims it contains do not arise in a vacuum. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently said, “We basically created AGI, or are very close to it,” before confusingly describing his statement as “spiritual.” Elon Musk goes even further and claims: “We have entered the singularity.”
