– NIST announced that it plans to update its Introductory resource guide for implementing the HIPAA security rule and solicits industry stakeholders for comments on proposed changes, including real-world application insights.

In its current form, the Insights “discuss security aspects and resources that may be useful in implementing the requirements of the HIPAA Security Rule”.

“[It] was written to educate readers about information security terms used in the HIPAA security rule and to improve their understanding of the meaning of the security standards set out in the security rule. Readers are directed to helpful information in other NIST publications on specific topics of the HIPAA Safety Rule, engaging readers and helping them understand the security concepts discussed in the HIPAA Safety Rule, “said the officials.
