News outlets — including Cleveland’s Plain Dealer — are suing AI company Cohere over copyright

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A host of news outlets and magazine publishers, including The Plain Dealer Publishing Co., filed a lawsuit Thursday in federal court alleging AI company Cohere has engaged in widespread unauthorized use of news articles.

The media outlets accused Cohere of “massive, systemic” copyright and trademark infringement, according to the News/Media Alliance, a trade industry association that filed the lawsuit.
