Remote working and a more dispersed workforce increase the attack surface for businesses and undermine cybersecurity, according to a new report from Verizon.
The telecommunications giant released its Mobile Security Index on Tuesday, which found that 49% of companies surveyed said changes to remote work practices made during the pandemic-induced lockdown negatively impacted their cybersecurity posture as they rushed to ensure business continuity.
The report is based on the results of an independent survey of more than 850 professionals responsible for purchasing, managing and securing the mobile and IoT infrastructure for their organizations.
Apparently, these respondents said that mobile devices are the top security threats to their business, as 40% said. Another 45% said they sacrificed mobile device security “to get the job done”.
