New tools and features released by Microsoft for developers

Microsoft is launching new products and updates to empower developer communities in creating innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) experiences. Updates to Azure AI services include Azure AI Studio and GPT-4o, a multimodal model integrating text, image, and audio processing. Additionally, Phi-3-vision, a new multimodal model, is now available in preview on Azure.

Microsoft Fabric updates aim to help developers make data-informed decisions through real-time intelligence and the Fabric Workload Development Kit. Microsoft also introduced Team Copilot, extending AI personal assistant capabilities to improve collaboration and project management.

New features in Microsoft Copilot Studio allow developers to create custom copilots. GitHub Copilot extensions are introduced in private preview for developers to customize their Copilot experience. The focus is on empowering developers to create efficient copilots that adapt to individual needs.

To support demanding AI workloads, a new Cobalt 100 Arm silicon series-based virtual machine and Azure ND MI300X v5 virtual machine are now available. This builds on the Copilot+ PCs launch, a new category of smart Windows PCs designed for AI tasks. These PCs offer powerful performance capabilities and new experiences like Recall, Cocreator, Live Captions, and translation features.

The new features and products are aimed at making Windows the most open for AI and the best platform for developers. Pre-orders for Copilot+ PCs are open, with general availability starting on June 18, 2024. Microsoft Surface and OEM partners like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung will offer these devices. The goal is to enable developers to create advanced AI experiences and drive innovation in the AI space.
