New Thunderbolt 5 cables have arrived, but there are few compatible devices

The new Thunderbolt 5 cables are now available on Amazon in lengths of 1 foot, 1.6 feet, and 3.3 feet, priced at $23, $27, and $33, respectively. However, these cables require a computer with a Thunderbolt 5 port and a compatible dock or accessory to be used effectively. The only laptop currently known to have a Thunderbolt 5 port is the Razer Blade 18, which comes with a hefty price tag.

The peripherals necessary to make use of Thunderbolt 5 technology are not yet widely available, as companies like Belkin, J5Create, OWC, and Sabrent have not listed any Thunderbolt 5 products on their websites. Hyper’s Thunderbolt 5 dock is also out of stock, indicating that the market for Thunderbolt 5 accessories is still in its early stages.

If a user happens to own two identical Razer Blade 18 laptops, they could potentially utilize Thunderbolt Share to transfer files at high speeds between the two devices. Otherwise, the Thunderbolt 5 cable can still be used as a USB4/Thunderbolt 4 cable for now. Cable Matters’ Thunderbolt 5 cable is manufactured by Lintes, the same company that produced the prototype cable showcased at CES.
