A new study from Mecalux and the MIT Intelligent Logistics Systems Lab at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics reports that artificial intelligence is now integrated into most warehouses worldwide, signaling a rapid shift toward intelligent logistics operations.
The study, conducted by Mecalux in partnership with the MIT Intelligent Logistics Systems Laboratorydraws on responses from more than 2,000 supply chain and warehousing professionals in 21 countries.
According to the report, more than nine out of 10 warehouses now use some form of AI or advanced automation.
Over half of the companies surveyed said they were operating at an advanced or fully automated level of maturity, with larger companies leading the way in adoption.
According to the results, AI now supports a wide range of everyday warehouse functions, including order picking, inventory optimization, labor scheduling, equipment maintenance and safety monitoring.
