ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Attorney General Letitia James is notifying New Yorkers of new information and instructions to receive funds from a $700-million settlement with Google.
AG James and a coalition of 53 attorneys general secured the settlement with Google in Dec. 2023 for monopolistic conduct in its app store that increased costs for consumers and app developers.
If the settlement is approved by the court most of the settlement funds will be used to pay consumers who made purchases on the Google Play Store between Aug. 2016 and Sept. 2023 and were harmed by the alleged monopolistic conduct.
Google has already paid $630 million into a settlement fund and people who made purchases between Aug. 2016 and Sept. 2023 and were harmed by Google’s practices received notices about the claims process for the settlement funds.
