New faces for democratic presidential elections – The new Paltz oracle

A recent Washington Post article profiled several potential candidates for the 2028 Democratic nomination for president. The article, a long list of moderate Democrats and party bigwigs, ended with a message that resonated with me, a clarion call to lesser-known politicians: The nomination could very well end up in the hands of an outsider.

That’s something that stuck with me. I wouldn’t have expected an outsider Democrat to take the nomination for a long, long time. Republicans often describe themselves as outsiders; but in recent history Democrats have rarely done this. Democrats believe that to be taken seriously, they must prove their mettle. Democrats believe their experience would convince voters that they are the right person for the job and that they will be the steady hand to guide this ship of state.
