It’s a busy time for virtualization giant VMware after Dell divested its 81% stake in the company to create an independent software company with a market value of over $60 billion. What’s next after the company charted its own course for the first time in nearly two decades?

Two main themes are expected to dominate – the importance of multi-cloud and a shift away from licenses towards growth on a subscription/ARR basis. At the time of the demerger in November, Sandy Hogan, VMware SVP of the company’s Worldwide Partners and Commercial Organization said:
