NetApp has expanded its intelligent data infrastructure capabilities to support strategic cloud workloads, including Generative AI (GenAI) and VMware environments. The goal is to reduce resources and risks in managing these workloads in hybrid multicloud environments. Pravjit Tiwana, Senior VP and GM of Cloud Storage at NetApp, emphasized that these workloads are driving business innovation with complex infrastructure requirements. NetApp offers features like BlueXP Workload Factory for AWS, GenAI Toolkit for Microsoft Azure, and a common architecture with Amazon to streamline data operations.

BlueXP automates cloud resource planning for GenAI, VMware, and databases to optimize deployment time, cost, and performance. GenAI Toolkit for Azure integrates private corporate data for high-quality results. AWS and NetApp have a reference architecture for RAG workflows using Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP. AWS also enhanced Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP for scalability and flexibility with up to 6 GB per second throughput for GenAI workloads.

NetApp’s BlueXP disaster recovery service now supports VMFS datastores for on-site disaster recovery with guided workflows. Matthew Swinbourne, CTO Cloud Architecture at NetApp Asia Pacific, highlighted the region’s interest in GenAI and virtualized environments, addressing complexity, security, and cost constraints. Archana Venkatraman from IDC mentioned the importance of balancing data security and cost efficiency for GenAI projects, while Derek Elbert from WWT emphasized the need to optimize VMware workloads for cost-performance ratios.

Overall, NetApp’s intelligent data infrastructure capabilities aim to help customers navigate the complexities of managing strategic workloads like GenAI and VMware in multicloud environments. The new features streamline data operations, enhance data integration, and provide scalability for high-performance workloads. The emphasis on automation, security, and cost-efficiency reflects a commitment to addressing the evolving needs of enterprises in today’s dynamic business landscape.
