That’s why Mullvad made the decision completely remove the ability to create new subscriptions – all in the name of storing less data about their users.
“Subscriptions clearly offer a lot of convenience, but we’ve seen that convenience comes at a price, and we no longer think that’s an acceptable trade-off. We value ease of use, but when it comes down to it, privacy has to win,” the provider wrote in a blog entry (opens in new tab).
This move is a step forward in Mullvad’s commitment to user privacy. It’s actually one of the few services that doesn’t ask for an email address or other personal information to create an account.
