New data shows artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly popular for crucial financial and property research, but most Australians refuse to trust it with their most important money decisions.

More than one in five (21 percent) Australians say they have received financial advice from ChatGPT or similar AI tools in the last 12 months, showing how AI is becoming a mainstream source of information.

More than a quarter (27 percent) said they use AI platforms to provide financial information, with younger cohorts leading the way (38 percent of Generation Z and 34 percent of Millennials).

These numbers drop significantly among older generations, with only 15 percent of Generation X and 5 percent of Baby Boomers reporting the same.

The new findings come from the latest ‘Clever’ phase of Great Southern Bank’s third annual No Place Like Home report series, which examines Australia’s long-term financial security and how sentiment is changing as the journey to home ownership progresses.
