The developers of Jetpack, a hugely popular WordPress plugin, forcibly installed an urgent update to fix a bug that threatened the security of more than five million websites.

As reported by Bleeping Computer, a user with the alias nguyenhg_vcs has discovered a security bug in the way Jetpack handles comments for various images. Once identified, Automattic (the company that produces both WordPress, one of the most popular content management systems in the world, and Jetpack, a plugin that offers many benefits, from added security, improved performance to various administrative functions) and managed), prepared a security update and, due to the severity of the threat, decided to push it on everyone.
