During Microsoft’s recent Surface event, the tech giant unveiled updates to its Surface lineup, including the new Microsoft Surface Go 4. While the external design remains similar to its predecessor, the Surface Go 3, the 4th generation device boasts upgraded specifications tailored towards business users.
The Surface Go 4 sports a 10.5-inch PixelSense display with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for added durability. The screen-to-body ratio stands at 76.5%, providing a decent viewing experience for users.
Under the hood, Microsoft has equipped the Surface Go 4 with improved processors, offering options such as the Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y, Intel Core i3-10100Y, or the Intel N200 processor from the Alder Lake-N lineup. This upgrade promises enhanced productivity for users.
The device comes with 8GB of RAM and various storage options ranging from 64GB to 256GB. Microsoft claims up to 12.5 hours of battery life on a single charge, catering to users on the go.
Catering to the enterprise market, the Surface Go 4 includes features like TPM 2.0 hardware chip for security, BitLocker support, Windows Hello face login, and compatibility with Windows 11 PC with secure core. These enhancements are designed to meet the needs of business customers.
One notable improvement from its predecessor is the enhanced repairability of the Surface Go 4, allowing IT departments to replace components such as the screen, battery, kickstand, and motherboard without needing to send the device for repairs.
Despite the presence of pen support, Microsoft has omitted LTE models for the Surface Go 4 this year. The device features three cameras, including a 1080p front camera for video calls, a Windows Hello facial recognition camera, and an 8MP rear camera for photography.
Additionally, the Surface Go 4 is one of the select Windows 11 PCs eligible for Microsoft 365 for Frontline subscription, catering to frontline workers and part-time employees. This subscription package allows sharing of licenses among multiple users.
While pricing and availability details for the Surface Go 4 are yet to be announced, the shift towards an enterprise focus suggests that it may be targeted more towards business customers. Overall, the Surface Go 4 brings incremental upgrades and enhancements, aiming to cater to the evolving needs of modern work environments.
