Microsoft is working to resolve a known issue preventing users from installing the Microsoft 365 desktop apps on Windows devices.
In a Friday service alert seen by BleepingComputer, Microsoft said that this bug is caused by misconfigured authentication components and may affect any customer attempting to install Microsoft 365 desktop apps version 2508 (Build 19127.20358) and version 2507 (Build 19029.20294).
The Microsoft 365 team is now reconfiguring the impacted authentication components and estimates that a final fix will be rolled out later today.
“A newly released set of authentication components contain a misconfiguration that prevents users from installing Microsoft 365 desktop apps on Windows devices,” Microsoft said in a Friday update.
