Microsoft has unveiled a new category of Windows PCs called ‘Copilot PCs’ designed for the era of artificial intelligence. These PCs are said to be the fastest and smartest Windows PCs ever built, starting at $999. They come with new silicon capable of 40 trillion operations per second, all-day battery life, and access to advanced AI models. The Copilot PCs will be available from June 18 and will be offered by Microsoft Surface and partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung.

One of the key features of the Copilot PCs is the integration of Large Language Models (LLM) running on Azure Cloud alongside Small Language Models (SLM), allowing for unmatched performance. The PCs are reported to be up to 20 times more powerful and up to 100 times more efficient at running AI workloads, delivering industry-leading AI acceleration. Additionally, the Microsoft ‘Pluton Security’ processor will be enabled by default on all Copilot PCs for enhanced security.

According to Yusuf Mehdi, executive vice president and Director of consumer marketing at Microsoft, the Copilot PCs offer new experiences such as Recall, which allows users to virtually access past activities on their PC in a way that resembles photographic memory. Adobe’s flagship apps, including Photoshop, Lightroom, and Express, will be available on Copilot PCs, with more apps like Illustrator and Premiere Pro set to arrive this summer.

Overall, the Copilot PCs aim to provide users with cutting-edge AI capabilities, enhanced security features, and a seamless user experience. With the combination of high-performance silicon, advanced AI models, and secure processors, these PCs are positioned to revolutionize the way users interact with their devices.
