This article is a collection of major outages and service disruptions that happened today…
Popular URL shorter service Bitly is currently down. If you try accessing the official Bitly website, you’ll either find it inaccessible or the website currently says:
Sorry, but bitly is getting a quick site refresh
Of course, users are taking to social media platforms to share the news.
So…it seems bitly is down. Eek.

And some are annoyed:
@Bitly When is your site going to finish it’s maintenance? Been down all morning.

The official Bitly team hasn’t said anything so far about this site refresh, but we are looking for more details. Will update the story as and when we find more information.
The Bitly status page confirms it’s a major outage affecting Branded Short Domain Redirects, Website (Bitly.com), API, and Metrics. Bit.ly Redirects, however, are working fine.
The company has identified the root cause and is working to fix the problem. Here’s what the status page says:
We are currently investigating reports of major failures
We have identified the issue and are working with datacenter support teams to resolve
Bitly now says they’ve implemented a fix. So the problem should be over soon.
A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results
As we can see, the site is back up now as well.
We are now again seeing user reports that say Bitly has gone down for them.
@Bitly Hey Bitly, we are having issues, getting an error page that there is site work being done and to try again in a few minutes, and now the page wont load at all. When will the site be up and running again?

The official Bitly status page currently says everything is operational. Anyway, we are keeping a close tab, and will continue to offer updates here.
