There must be something in the water. Microsoft and Google have decided to add new snooping updates to their platforms just in time for the holidays. This week’s furor is down to Google starting to share text messages with employers. Meanwhile, Microsoft has quietly set a new date for Teams starting to share your location with your boss.

“When users connect to their organization’s Wi-Fi,” Microsoft says, “Teams will automatically set their work location to reflect the building they are working in.” The idea is others can easily find you. The problem is that if you’re not at work, no virtual background is going to save you from the wrath of your boss.
