Microsoft is facing criticism after mods on its official Copilot Discord server banned the word “Microslop”—an increasingly popular term among critics who say the brand pushes low‑quality products often cluttered with meaningless AI features. Unfortunately for Microsoft, the incident has helped the term grow into an even bigger meme, raising fresh questions about how Redmond addresses criticism as it continues to push Copilot into every corner of its software.
Users first noticed that messages containing the banned word didn’t appear in Copilot Discord channels, Windows Latest reported Monday. Users also received automated replies that their posts contained language that the server did not permit. Community members then started testing the filter with misspellings and other variations, which, since Microsoft had not considered them, made it through. This only drew more attention to the block.
