Microsoft Opens up Skip Ahead for Windows Insiders Once Again

Google is about to make a big splash today with its new game streaming service, but if you aren’t too bothered by that, Microsoft is releasing a new Windows 10 build just about now.

The company today released build 18361 to Insiders in the Fast Ring from the Windows 10 19H1 branch. The new build isn’t anything special though, it literally only includes two fixes, and that’s about it:

  • We fixed an issue preventing certain VMs from being able to install or update Windows Insider Preview builds – the VM would hang on the black screen with the Windows logo.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders experiencing unexpected BitLocker prompts to encrypt certain drives, and then subsequently failing to encrypt.

The new build includes some known issues too:

  • Microsoft Store app updates do not automatically install on 18356+. As a workaround, you can manually check for, and install updates via the Microsoft Store app. Open Select “…” > “Downloads and updates” > “Get updates”.
  • Launching games that use anti-cheat software may trigger a bugcheck (GSOD).
  • Creative X-Fi sound cards are not functioning properly. We are partnering with Creative to resolve this issue.
  • Some Realtek SD card readers are not functioning properly. We are investigating the issue.

Now that Microsoft is nearing the release of 19H1 to the public, there really isn’t much to be excited about here. This new build and the upcoming builds will probably only include very minor fixes, and all of that’s expected at this point in time.

The company is also releasing build 18356.16 to Insiders in the Slow Ring, by the way.
