Microsoft partners with Cyber Shujaa to train 100 cybersecurity professionals in Kenya

Microsoft’s Africa Development Center (ADC) in Kenya has announced plans to train 100 students in cybersecurity in partnership with Cyber Shujaa. The training program targets undergraduate and postgraduate students with less than two years of work experience, aiming to enhance the cybersecurity talent pool in Kenya’s technology sector. The course will cover eight cybersecurity modules and follow a hybrid learning model, combining theoretical and practical training.

The initiative was welcomed by Catherine Muraga, CEO of Microsoft ADC, who emphasized the importance of cybersecurity in various sectors and the need for more resources in the field. Participants in the program will receive two cybersecurity certificates from Microsoft, improving their prospects for securing positions in the industry. Cyber Shujaa, a program focused on training youth in cybersecurity and data protection, has already trained over 500 individuals.

Igor Sakhnov, corporate vice president of engineering at Microsoft, highlighted the significance of the partnership with Cyber Shujaa in boosting the cybersecurity industry in Africa. The training will cover areas such as network security, cloud security, incident response, and forensics, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity practices.

The program is a part of Microsoft ADC’s larger efforts to upskill professionals in the technology sector, including initiatives like the Teacher Upskilling Program, Game of Learners, and the Women Inspiring and Nurturing Women (WINS) mentoring program. By offering specialized training in cybersecurity, Microsoft aims to contribute to Kenya’s position as an ideal destination for cybersecurity professionals.
