Microsoft outage results in disruption of Bing, Copilot, ChatGPT internet search, and other affected sites

Several Microsoft services, such as Bing, Copilot, ChatGPT, and DuckDuckGo, are currently experiencing outages in Europe. Bleeping Computer reported that Bing.com and Copilot are displaying blank pages and 429 errors, while DuckDuckGo is showing an error message instructing users to try again.

Microsoft acknowledged the issue on their @MSFT365Status Page, stating that they are investigating the issue with the Copilot service and working to isolate the cause. OpenAI also confirmed the problem and is investigating it further.

The outage has affected both ChatGPT internet search (for Plus or corporate users) and DuckDuckGo, as they rely on the Bing API. The incident began around 3 a.m. ET on May 23.

This is not the first outage Microsoft has experienced recently. In January, Teams went down in North and South America, and the company faced a massive breach with a US government review board calling for significant improvements to Microsoft’s security culture.

Overall, Microsoft services like Bing, Copilot, ChatGPT, and DuckDuckGo are currently down in Europe due to technical issues. The company is investigating the cause of the problem, which has also impacted affiliated services like ChatGPT and DuckDuckGo. This outage comes after a series of recent incidents involving Microsoft, highlighting the challenges the tech giant faces in maintaining a secure and stable online presence.
