Microsoft will be opening a new Azure region in China next year to strengthen the company’s presence in the country where demand for cloud services is expected to skyrocket.
The cloud giant announced that the fifth Azure region in China will be launched in 2022 through the company’s local business partner 21Vianet. Microsoft Azure regions are a set of data centers deployed within a certain scope and connected by a dedicated regional network with low latency.
With the new region, the company expects to double the capacity of its cloud portfolio in China in the coming years. Chinese customers have access to Azure computing, networking, analytics and IoT services. but also on the productivity platform Microsoft Office 365 as well as on business applications Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.
